Machine tool monitoring system is wireless
A manufacturing execution system that tracks and reports production and machine efficiencies - injection moulding machines and machine tools - is WiFi enabled.
Moldflow Corporation, the leading provider of design through manufacturing solutions for the plastics injection molding industry, announced today that Celltrack is now available with WiFi enabled machine interface Units (MIUs). Celltrack Production Management is a manufacturing execution system that tracks and reports production and machine efficiencies. The system can be attached to virtually any piece of equipment used for discrete manufacturing, including injection molding machines as well as cutting, stamping, welding and many other cyclic operations.
Celltrack provides capabilities for work order management, job scheduling, mold and machine maintenance tracking, labeling and SPC/SQC functions.
Data Collection from the machine by the MIUs uses Wireless Ethernet technology for data transmission to the file server.
According to Nick Smith, product line manager at Moldflow: 'Wireless Ethernet increases the flexibility and mobility of equipment placement on the factory floor and reduces the cost of installation when compared to a hardwired Ethernet or Serial network'.
'Customers are already using the wireless MIUs in France, Italy and Spain'.
'Central Labo Europe (Paris), found the implementation of Celltrack using WiFi networking to be immediately beneficial.' * Availability - the MIU 01 and MIU 02 continue to be available with serial, ethernet, as well as the new WiFi networking options and a single Celltrack installation will support a network of MIUs consisting of a mixture of all three communication protocols.
